My (brand spankin' new) Creative Space

DSCF7997
Greater love hath no frenchman than to let his wife turn the lounge room into a craft room!
Please remind me of this next time I speak of him in disparaging tones.
DSCF7999
So that's been my week, rearranging the creative space and the frenchman building the cutting table of my dreams. That's some serious cassoulet I owe him!
I've also been making the frames and sewing the covers for a few custom orders of these magnetic noticeboards.

In Which the Author (nearly) Gets Caught with her Pants Down

DSCF7982
Nearly forgot to tell you about this. The other night I had the pleasure of going for a beer with some colleagues in a pub, a revolutionary moment for an, until recently, stay-at-home mum. It was most pleasant after two glasses of Coopers and all was well and rosy with the world. I departed the pub in a state of fuzzy bonhomie to a waiting taxi which sped across town taking me to another delightful function, a friend's baby shower being held within the Governor General's compound, (not with the GG but at the lovely caretaker cottage).

I arrived still in a slightly windswept condition after a great chat with the cabbie. As chance would have it, another friend arrived at exactly the same time, whereupon we sauntered off together in search of the cottage. Fifteen minutes later, after peering in the upteenth window and circling the GG's residence twice, (all very patriotic really with two big red kangaroos free-ranging on the front lawn!!), I had a tickle in the nether-regions alerting me to the need for using the amenities at the earliest opportunity.

As I contemplated a suitable place for public urination at the home of Her Majesty's Representative in Australia, I also remembered a sober warning on the invitation to NOT wander the grounds under Any Circumstances. We renewed our efforts to find the cottage with great vigour at this point. In fact I don't mind telling you that it was truly a hallelujah moment when the cottage was located and that I nearly ran down our delightful hostess at the front door in an effort to locate the bathroom.

All in all, I consider it a win-win situation for the GG and I, she managed to keep the biological integrity of her lawn and I went home in the same pair of unders.

PS the completely unrelated photo is some bling the girls and I are making now that school holidays are upon us.
Hope you are well.

An (In)Elegant Sufficiency

DSCF7977
I've always been proud of the fact that I don't have an addictive personality. I could stop smoking as easily as blink an eyelid and although I would regard alcohol as a dear and intimate acquaintance, I wouldn't need a sojourn in Betty Ford if no more was to come my way. That was until I re-organised my craft space and discovered exactly how much fabric I have, (the photo doesn't show the half of it!), if someone starts a textiles annonymous group, I'm in. Just saying.
PS These ones below arrived today from the fabric fairies, (at least that's what I told the frenchman).

In Which Kipper and Sophie the Giraffe Engage in a Bit of Biffo And Sophie Comes Off the Worse For It

Don't be fooled by his mild-mannered demeanor here, nooo. Sophie, the small person's squeaker toy has never been the same again.

PS.Have just realised I purchased my dog based on his similarity to the cushions on my lounge. That makes me either a consummate interior designer or a raving narcissist. Am worried it's the latter.

My Creative Space

DSCF7936
Slightly less frantic this week in ye olde creative space. I've been doing a bit of work on my quilt thanks to the talented Onequilters Leah, Meg, Dorie and Amy who have contributed squares. Sashiko has been squarely on the agenda, just what the doctor ordered when suffering from a sewing machine overdose. Also a bit of sewing for the small people - a skirt and blouse combo with a paeony belt, (am suffering from Southern Hemisphere mid-winter paeony envy). The other things I have been working on are Strictly Secret Squirrel for Helen. We are doing a swap with a literary, midwinter feel.

Last of the Pomegranates

If I were to believe in reincarnation, I would like to come back as a pomegranate.

Just thought I should mention it in case I've got this whole atheism thing wrong.

Stitches and Craft and Stuff

DSCF7912
These are magnetic noticeboards with little co-ordinating magnets that I sold for the first time at the market on Sunday. A lovely friend bought the red one, (upside-down, Miss Jane), which made me really happy, I get really attached to stuff and like to see it going to a lovely home. I think I'll make more of these for the Stitches and Craft Show in Sydney in August. Did I tell you I was going? If you're coming you'll have to pop in and say hi!
