Ever diminishing Circles: Panic

Dscf3767
That's me on the right of the picture. Flipping. Out.

Had to do a panic trip to Canberra yesterday with my father after a rental property fell through. I wonder if I will be bailing my 35 year old daughter out of trouble like my parents are still doing with me? Anyway, we got something - not my dream home but it's waterproof. And for the first time in five years I will be able to circumnavigate my bed.

I digress. The purpose of this post, beside box avoidance, is to offer a freebie/trade. My daughter's bed sold for just $51 (??) and to top it off the person who bought it doesn't want it anymore because she got the measurements wrong.

If you are in Sydney I will happily give you the bed/daybed. I think it's a rippa. My daughter used it as a cot and we turned it around when she got older to be a single bed. It is actually a day bed so it could be used outside too. Bear in mind however that it is bloody heavy and the measurements, (150cm long, 85cm width, 106cm height), can make it awkward to move around. It is wrought iron with a slatted frame and a fitted inner-spring mattress (which you can have if you want). It rocks and I definitely don't want to dump it on the footpath. It needs a kind and loving home. If you are interested drop me a comment  - maybe we could do it as a swap - fabric or something.

Humdinger

Dscf3731

That's humdinger with a silent 'pff' in front, my friends. This is why and it is - a humdinger, that is. The Frenchman has a kind and generous soul and can look forward to some splendid new pillowcases coming his way sometime soon (rectangles being my forté).

Thanks for the sage advice on comments, that helps. Also, super ideas for Tokyo, gives a gal something to look forward to beyond the packing and unpacking of boxes.

Did I tell you that we have decided to rent? Not knowing a single shmo in Canberra and not having found our abandoned-but-intriguingly-rodent-and-cobweb-free-neo-gothic-cathedralceilinged -renovator's delite, we are going to take a 6-12 month lease. Actually, we're thinking about buying a block of land and bunging one of these on it. What think you?

I'll be signing off with this post as my house is gradually being whittled down to an esky, (containing some unspeakable-looking condiments), and a couple of mattresses. Can you tell that I am gritting my teeth as I write this? But! With the miracles of modern computing I am hoping to use that delay thingey to blog during the week of the 14 Jan. Abby, after her virtuoso hosting of beautiful books week is doing it again with beautiful films and I'm in. Love a good film, I do - so stay tuned.

Oh, and the piccie (thanks to Jhoanna for the gorgeous dolly, by the way), shows a piece of furniture that is staying behind (much to my chagrin). If you are interested and you are in Sydney, I'm selling it here and I really want it to go to a good home.

My daughter took this photo of her sister's blocks but I liken it more to my current state of mind.

Everything is going into boxes in preparation for the big move next week and I'm feeling a little growly at the current dishevelled state of my house.

On a brighter note I've just booked tickets to Paris with a stop-over in Tokyo for mid-year. HOOT. Any interesting destination ideas will be gratefully received.

PS I love getting your luverley comments but I never know what to do with them exactly. It's not like a kazillion people comment here so I could certainly get back to y'all but it seems a little inane of me to email back with a 'ta for the comment' epistle whereupon you might feel compelled to return the favour and then we are suddenly locked in a blogging version of Ground-Hog Day. Don't get me wrong, I get chuffed no end that people take the time to write something here, I do, but I don't want to cramp your style either. Is this the right approach or should I be replying - any people up on the whole blog etiquette thing out there?

PPS Apparently, that's me in the middle holding the girlies' hands.
