Scones, and no, I'm not off mine

Here's my Friday present to you and yours. Ever since we started frequenting the Lynwood Cafe in Collector, a darkened room and an enormous plate of scones with jam and cream features highly on my fantasy list. Then I found this article with a range of recipes for scones including the heretical lemonade scone and the belch-worthy Flo scone. I was reborn.

For the record I've tried the CWA recipe with smashing results, (gawd love the CWA). I made them five minutes before lunch and we wolfed them with gusto for dessert. Next time I'm going to lose some salt and introduce a wee dram of sugar. Lemons are courtesy of my neighbour, (any good recipes out there?), and the scooter comes courtesy of last year's Christmas cracker. Hope the weekend's a rippa.

I made some ripper scones last Sunday (Mother's Day); the first time using the lemonade recipe. The results were very good but think I'll try the CWA recipe next.

Coincidentally, I came across the same article when looking for the CWA recipe.

Yay scones!

I like this recipe for Maple Syrup Scones from mav at port2port.

They take mere minutes to whip up and while they're sweet (obviously), they're not cloyingly so. Perfect for chilly autumn days.

And this may be a daft question but what is "CWA"?

Just ran across your lovely blog. One of my favorite lemon recipes is this cake:

How lucky you are to have fresh lemons in the neighborhood.

love the lingo, as an aussie living in the usa. anyone other than an Australian must be scratching their head, "what did she say" .
makes me feel homesick.

Oh be still me beating heart. The scones look devine. You know how I love my scones. For me it's all about the warmth and fluff factor. I don't like stogey scones, or ones that stick to the roof of your mouth. They look perfect. The scooter, wow, what crackers are you using. It's a gem. I kinda like the moulded fluoro plastic gems that come out of our crackers. I have a lemon tree and will be tracking back through what you find. So far lemonade is always a hit with our family and it uses up heaps of lemons. My Girl Guide unit made it last year and I thought they'd turn up their noses, but they loved it.

I have to admit i have never tried baking the good old scone...i think i will attempt it now after reading this post!
Lucky you to have Lynwood so close by. Happy baking.x

I love scones, make them often. Make lemon curd with the lemons and have them on scones, hmmm divine! Another of my fav recipes is cooking a baked cheesecake with lemon curd swirled through the top layer. Yum... By the way your blog is great and full of inspirational finds.

Those lemons are gorgeous and I'm excited to try making these. Thanks for sharing!
