I made a blog post a couple of years ago in which I referred to the mean reds that I was experiencing, and had a bunch of people express their sympathy for my 'women's issues.' *sigh*

I used to play Pooh Sticks as a kid - I'd ride my bike to my best friend's house, and we'd visit the nearby bridge (that I'd ridden clickety-clack over minutes earlier) and drop sticks! Thanks for the memory :)

And, two weeks ago, when I was in Sydney, I dragged my mum to Tiffany & Co. I'd had a rough couple of weeks prior to that (my partner moved out 2 months ago, and it seemed to hit me at the end of last term). I stood out the front and thought about my mean reds :) And I did feel better for it - nothing very bad could happen to you there, you know?

This is lovely. I'm a new reader and already smitten. I love the idea of rolling about, laughing with one's children at a shared listening experience.

Michelle

I blow my mean reads away with red fabric and red yarn. Works every time.

this takes me back to when my (now 19 yr old) son was 2~ he loved pooh! i used to read him this little book about honey bees & he loved it when i immitated poohs "beary" voice.

Lisa

Pooh does seem to have that effect on people.

Lisa ;)

Jackie

Audiobook of Roald Dahl's BFG has the same effect, do try it.

Also available (in OZ) here - http://www.fishpond.com.au/Books/Childrens/Fiction/Classics/product_info/484393/?cf=3&rid=2021358111&i=7&keywords=the+house+at+pooh+corner.

Yes, I am contemplating a purchase right about now - despite current absence of reds...

Cristy

I imagine it would be much cheaper at the book depository, but it is currently out of stock...

Ah, great to see another Truman Capote lover. My solution isn't as inspiring as yours: I go thrift shopping. But I guess it has the same effect on me as Tiffany's did for Holly. Loving the pillows ....

Amy

Truman Capote, A. A. Milne, happy kids, tea, and very cool pillows?! Be still my heart. :o)
