Rain

Got caught in the rain tonight. Not a few drops, we're talking big whopping buckets of rain. I was leaving the opening of an exhibition with friends and decided to brave the rain. It was light at first and then from nowhere it became torrential like when I was a little girl living on the coast. A seaside storm with lighting and hail. I've stuffed up my Achilles which meant running wasn't an option. So I just gave in to it and it was amazing. That smell when the rain hits a hot footpath and the throaty rumble of thunder.

Ps yes thats a nit comb and thanks for all the infestation stories. Made me feel a little less freaked out.

Infestation

When the smallest child complained that something was itchy in her hair I knew it was all over. The Rummage household dream run in its ninth year without nits was dead in the water. Not just one but two smalls with nits. 

I spent Saturday night combing conditioner through their hair and trying not to extend their vocabulary of colourful language any further than their already forensic understanding of the subject. 
By lunch today they were nit free and the French and I passed out on deck chairs with a cold beer to recover. 

In happier news we found a funky old game of
cluedo at a garage sale and played a few fast and furious post beer games.

It's raining here like the sky means business. We hung out at the Belgian Beer Cafe last night so that the French could dose up on Lefte beer and Moules frites. The big girl hit the dance floor at her first school social. The little was happy because she got green jelly and ice cream. Life's good.

My Sharona

Party prep is under way for next weekend. We're assembling a mix tape along with a hefty dose of vinyl. There could also be some karaoke if people play their cards right.
I remember someone telling me a while ago that everyone has a song that becomes their karaoke signature. I've never managed to find that elusive tune until about four am in Melbourne a while back I pulled off The Knacks 'My Sharona'. And there it was - my signature tune. I'd love to know what yours is! Xx

Kindy orientation for my youngest today. She walked tall in the playground with a big smile and nearly broke my heart. Where does all the time go?

Run

Hi. Me again. In non techy news I am at day five of extreme calf pain. Not the bovine variety but the ones that dangle off your knees. I had the genius idea to embrace the barefoot running movement, thank god I started in sand shoes is all I can say. 

Think I would have needed hospitalisation if I'd gone the whole hog. Anyway I ran for fifty minutes and felt pretty happy about it until I tried to put my feet on the floor the following morning. And I speak as someone who went through two drug free births. That's the end of my barefoot running career, back to SUV nikes. Xx

Feeling a little bit out of body right now. I'm writing this post on my new whizz bang phone that can do everything except locate missing socks. In the space of a week I have read a book on a kindle and have a phone that can, gasp, TAKE A PHOTO. I can't get the hang of reading a book without turning the page but am loving being able to write a text message without wanting to throw the phone down the toilet. We are also having fun with the Siri technology, the girls are trying
To teach her how to say underpants and find kippers squeaky toy. No joy yet.
