When the smallest child complained that something was itchy in her hair I knew it was all over. The Rummage household dream run in its ninth year without nits was dead in the water. Not just one but two smalls with nits.
I spent Saturday night combing conditioner through their hair and trying not to extend their vocabulary of colourful language any further than their already forensic understanding of the subject.
By lunch today they were nit free and the French and I passed out on deck chairs with a cold beer to recover.
In happier news we found a funky old game of
cluedo at a garage sale and played a few fast and furious post beer games.
Hoping your weekend was lice-free. Xx

Yes, this weekend was lice-free. Last weekend wasn't. I'm amazed you've managed to escape for so long.

We are on week nine of the conditioner and comb. Mine are nearly under control I think - unfortunately the little one seems to pick up new critters each week. We are discussing wearing a kerchief to school.
Hope you caught yours nice and early.

Oh man, lice go on for YEARS. The good news is that once they're past Year 7 or so they grow out of it. My littlest is nearly 13 and still gets them (I do a weekly conditioner and comb) so I've been battling the buggers for over a decade now.
You have my sympathies.

They say rosemary oil - a tiny dab behind each ear - is a good preventative precation. And it smells nice!

nits are the pits!! On the flipside Miss Muffet loves getting her hair straightened! The straightener fries them real, real good. oh, and we use coconut milk spray and we have been nit free most of the year.

39yrs nit free.... I'm not sure if I'm nit free now, the kids are fine! Picked it up after a trip to relatives in Melbourne last school holidays. I tried kerosene - yes, you better believe it. The smell was just awful and so I couldn't do a second follow up treatment. Couple of weeks later I think they were back so I did a KP24 treatment. I have been combing with a lice comb but what do you do when your husband is not very helpful in this department? It's so difficult to comb through thick hair, I keep coming up empty handed with the comb but then I'll get a niggle behind the ears or on the back of the neck and I start getting paranoid!!! I use Ecokid Prevent shampoo on my kids which contains coconut oil, didn't even realise it was a "nit preventative" shampoo when I started using it years ago.
