My first crop of sweet corn is wending it's way to fruition. In typical style I planted without reading the fine print and have since discovered that corn should be grown in a series of rows to aid pollination.
And they are a handy climbing frame for scarlet runner beans. Speaking of which, any recipe ideas are warmly welcomed!
I've got my first crop of sweet corn in, too.
I also just read they should be planted in rows to aid pollination.
Strangely enough, I've found that the ones planted in the rich vegie patch soil have not grown as well as the extra ones I had, which i planted in crappy, clay-y soil. Weird.
And i don't know if this is meant to happen but the silky bits that stick out the top have disappeared off a few husks.
Just harvested some of my very first potatoes - kipflers - they were superb!
and i've got so many artichokes - i don't know what to do with them!
